Like many women I am the primary money spender for my household. As such those zero interest credit cards sure were nice while they lasted! I don’t know about your home but around here those pre-approved credit card applications with zero interest have come to an abrupt halt. What a shame this double edged sword of literally free money has almost ended. I think there is a good chance it will be back again but for now it is definitely not as available.
I bought a new washing machine and dryer recently after my 23 year old set finally died. Lowe’s was still offering 0% interest financing for one year with no payments. Now that is a deal! I love my new energy efficient front load washing machine almost as much as the financing they offered. The bill arrived yesterday with “Amount Due -$0”.
I am absolutely not suggesting reckless credit card use. Debt is for appreciating or income generating assets. The exception I made was for interest free credit cards because that capital can be put to work. The key with zero interest credit is being absolutely certain you can pay off the balance with capital you already have before interest rates start being charged. If there is any question that you will not be able to do this it is best to avoid credit card debt altogether except to establish credit.
Spend wisely
