What in the world is “Cleared Hot” and how can that possibly relate to women and money? In this series of inspirations from the recent eWomenNetwork conference, I’ll share life changing principles that Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour presented to a huge audience of engaged women.
If you don’t know of Vernice, her story is incredible. She became a combat pilot in a record-breaking three years, and became the first African American female pilot for the United States Marine Corps. Shortly after, the Department of Defense recognized her as America’s First African American Female Combat pilot.
Following two tours in Iraq, she began her own consulting firm to share her life success strategies with others.
In this article, I’ll share a few of Vernices’s valuable tips:
Permission to Engage -Vernice had to request permission to engage before taking steps to protect the soldiers on the ground. Do you ever feel like you need to ask for permission to engage to take the steps you need to protect and grow your money? You don’t; you’ve always HAD permission, you just need to give it to yourself.
Cleared Hot– This was the phrase that the pilots heard which gave them permission to engage. Are you allowing yourself to be “Cleared Hot” to take the actions you need to take to have enough money so that you can maintain your living standard throughout your life?
Take off from where you are– This one is perfect for where so many women are right now with regard to their money. Don’t think about what you had three years ago. Instead, think about what you learned from the 2008 financial crisis, and the positive outcome that will come as a result of those lessons. Maybe the lesson you gained was to avoid market bubbles, or to take the time to better understand investment risk for any asset that you have.
Once again, life principles apply to money principles; the two are intertwined. Financial women give themselves permission to engage, be “Cleared Hot,” and take off from where they are. Apply these principles to your life, your career, and your finances to create the rich life that you want.
Thanks for the pingback…I think that’s what this is?:) Camille
You captured Vernice Armour’s message beautifully and concisely, Camille, and you saw the parallels in our financial worlds as women. Beautifully done!
