Can January be almost gone? It was full of goal focus for both Financial Woman and for me personally. One of the things I am doing is clearing clutter. Last week I wrote about my investing book avalanche that forced me to deal with the space issue in my little home office.
In every home, I have had at least a little nook for my investment work. Now I have a true office, and while I love it, it’s a little small. One of the biggest space problems was caused by my sentimental feelings for an old Victorian oak hutch that is too large for my office. I bought it at an auction in Bermuda in 1995. I didn’t need it, but it was such a bargain I just had to buy it, and ever since, I have been making room for it somewhere in my home. Today a lady is coming to buy it, and while I am definitely a bit sad, I am also feeling some energy over thoughts of more useful and organized office space. No more investment book avalanches!
One of the best and simple ways to start feeling financially empowered is to create a space for involvement with your money. This can be a converted closet, or simply a file cabinet and bookmarked brokerage accounts on your computer. If someone else in your home is managing your money, get familiar with that space by learning the systems and order of your money. If you need to quickly step in for some reason and take over, just knowing the system will be a huge relief! Create the space in your life to become a financial woman before January 2011 is behind us.
