On my last blog, I wrote about my favorite weekly publications. Today I would like to share the publication I like to read on a daily basis. It does have a lot of information, so give yourself a few weeks to become accustomed to it.
My favorite daily publication is Investors Business Daily. It provides a wealth of information, especially if you want to invest or trade yourself. The Big Picture on the front page provides very good information on the overall market. Page 2 has information on company news events such as earnings and mergers, as well as trends in general, world news, national news and major economic events around the world. Each day focuses on a different industry. I have it delivered to my home every morning and have committed to at least scanning those first 2 pages. The rest of the paper offers invaluable information on up and coming companies, major trends, industries, and educational content on interpreting the markets both fundamentally and technically. While they also provide very good mutual fund coverage, they tend to be more geared toward active investors. (Active investors are not day traders, but we’ll save that for another blog.) There are articles on various aspects of business, such as leadership and time management, and also inspirational quotes, usually on page 3. You can get as much as you want out of this publication; a quick 5 minute morning scan, or hunker down in your favorite chair on Saturday for a great informative read. (Beware: This could lead to a nap!) I subscribe to the online version as well for easy access while traveling.
