Do you believe in the power of goals? Years ago, I took a life changing time management class; part of the course included writing out life goals, playing on the theory that we live our life in a way that will reach those important and defined long term goals with our daily activities.
Having always loved the water, I wrote that one of my life goals was to live on the water, thinking that this goal might be reached when I eventually “retired” (silly me, what’s that?). Two years later, I was living on right on Hamilton Harbour in Bermuda. I would have never in a million years dreamed that the series of events that took place that led me to live in a delightful green waterfront cottage named Denvy would have happened.
I forgot about my goal at the time, but years later I looked back over those course materials and realized that a goal had been fulfilled within a very short time. How had I not seen this at the time? More importantly, did the power of my goal creation affect this desired outcome? Could it have been a coincidence?
This goal came without any real effort to attain it. Other goals require more focus.
I believe that life goals are financial goals and financial goals are life goals. Typical financial goals include items such as a vacation home, college funding, special trips and funding for your own business doing work you love.
Are these not life goals?
So…when you don’t define your financial goals and live in a way that leads to them, there’s a good chance that you’re not getting those things that you have deemed most important. Of course, money can’t buy love, as the song goes, but isn’t love a part of a vacation home, travel, college resources and serving others through a passion based business?
Additionally, something magical happens when you put your goals in writing. Write out your life goals tonight and out them in a special place. Review them daily to stay on track and make them happen!

Camille
great post. I believe goals are very powerful to keep track of progress and gain momentum. I have them on my blog and review every other month, so I feel accountable.
Thanks for your comment Pauline. Yes, momentum is a great way to describe the outcome of goals!
