My son recently wanted to buy a Playstation with all sorts of extras. The “bundle” (as he called it) was too good to be true; it was completely irresistible. What I love about this story is that he did not say to himself: “I cannot afford it”; he asked “How can I buy it”? He calculated how many hours he needed to work in our businesses to buy the Playstation, and then worked 12 hours in a 24 hour period to make it happen before the sale ended.
What do you do when you see something you want that is not in your spending plan right now? Do you say “I cannot afford it”? Or, do you get creative about how you can buy it?
What if it’s something that can increase your income or wealth potential, such as a course or a new computer you need for your work? This would be considered an investment, not an expense.
Make a list of 5 ways you could make money right now. Everything counts; write down any ideas. Here are a few out of the box ideas to get you started:
- Add a consulting line of business
- Add a new product line to your business
- Increase your skills so you can ask for a raise (yes, this is happening, even in this economy!)
- Add a scalable product, such as a teleseminar, to your business
What is your mindset about creating the life that you want? Maybe right now it’s not about buying something, but about paying off credit card debt so you can have financial peace. This strategy works equally well for debt reduction.
Be the leader of your life and your money; be a financial woman!
Love the story. What a great mindset!
