I had no idea the talk would turn to stock investing and covered call strategies when I met for lunch with a friend from Ole Miss that I had not seen in 13 years! Being an avid horse rider, she had come to Austin for a dressage event, along with a friend and fellow rider. The conversation led to Financial Woman near the end of the lunch. As it turns out, Janice’s friend is not only a stock market investor, but she is also a covered call writer!
We were both very excited to find a fellow active investor, especially a woman. It is interesting how we almost did not discover this commonality between us. I think there are still many unspoken beliefs that it is taboo to discuss money and investing. There is almost a feeling of shame around money, which is unfortunate since money and investing are such a blessing.
After comparing strategies and sharing ideas, we agreed that it is unusual yet exciting to find someone else who actively invests in the stock market, and certainly someone who uses a covered call strategy. She said she was actually relieved to find another woman that loves researching stocks as she has felt that she was odd in some way for enjoying investing so much.
Investing is both fun and rewarding. Gather with some girlfriends here to learn more and stay involved! As we headed out the door for a shoe sale nearby, we agreed that the underlying passion is finding something that sells for less than its value. Whether the value is a pair of boots on sale or an undervalued investment, it’s the thrill of the game!
