Last week I spent several days with about 2,000 women business owners at the eWomenNetwork in Dallas. The speakers and workshops were full of “ahas” and “oh, that’s how you do that” insights for me! I want to share a few of my favorites that relate to life or money in upcoming blogs. I believe that life and money are closely intertwined, not only since money provides so many of those things on our wish lists, but also because making and managing money calls for us to grow in so many ways.
Saturday’s speaker was my longtime favorite author Jack Canfield. He has now sold half a BILLION copies of Chicken Soup for the Soul books worldwide! Here is the even more amazing part: He and Mark Victor Hansen were rejected by 144 publishers! The first insight is that he kept going after 144 rejections! What do you have in your life that you are being called to do that you are not doing because you fear rejection?
Second, I can’t help but think of all of those publishers that refused to publish his book. Talk about making a mistake…ooops! How much lost revenue was that? What mistakes have you made in your life that you need to stop replaying in your mind? Are they money mistakes? A lot of people have made a lot of money mistakes over the past few years. Assess where you are now, and then forge ahead to create the life you want, including reaching your financial goals. What steps do you need to take?
Third, the publisher that finally did agree to publish the book said that he thought 20,000 copies might sell. Lesson: Think BIG! Where are you thinking small in your life? Jack and Mark held firm to their huge goals and vision.
To summarize, never give up on getting what you really want, let go of past mistakes, and think huge. These valuable lessons apply to both your money and your life. As a financial woman, decide what you really want and need to create a rich life, and then go and make it happen.
Thanks eWomenNetwork…cg
